Tears & Gears Trail Running and Mountain Biking Duathlon began in September 2010. With its little brother race, the Winter Wheezer Trail Run and Nordic Ski in 2012.

There have been a variety of courses, routes, formats and offerings, from the addition of the Enduro Course, the popular “Speed Traps” and most recently, the addition of the Youth Race.

Each year we try and make it a little better than the one before, switching things up to keep the Fernie locals on their toes!

Sadly the 2017 races sadly weren’t to be – Winter Wheezer was amidst horrendous icy conditions, whilst September’s race was a day after the trails closed due to BC wild fires. After challenging conditions over the years for the Wheezer, and an increasing number of events organized by the amazing and fast-growing Fernie Nordic Society, we are no longer organizing the Winter Wheezer.

2018 however saw the biggest and best Tears & Gears to date! 180 racers toed the line, on a glorious sunny day. Thanks to everyone who came out to play.

2019 is our 10th Anniversary, so watch this space…
