After three successful years, the January #FernieStreak is returning once again.
What started out as a January incentive to get outside for 30mins, throughout the often coldest and least-inspiring month of the year, has since evolved into so much more: a way to check-in with friends; try a new activity; spend time with family; set a personal goal; and most recently, come together as a community, to raise some invaluable funds.
The 2021 #FernieStreak, deep in an uncertain pandemic, proved to be a much-needed addition to many people’s calendars, with 459 adults, kids, and dogs, registering to get their streak on – raising a whopping $6,775.22 for the Kootenay Foundry Starlight Campaign!
Looking forward to January 2022, the #FernieStreak committee is asking the Fernie community who would YOU like to support? Online nominations will be open from November 1 – 14, with the below parameters:
– Recipient must be a Charity or Not for Profit (NFP) Organization, located in the Elk Valley area
– Recipient must have a specific fundraising need or goal for 2022
– Recipient supports general well-being, mental health, fitness, or general community support for youth, adults, or seniors.
So, if you are a NFP or know of a deserving one that fits the bill, be sure to submit them once the nomination period opens November 1.
Once the nomination period closes, the #FernieStreak committee will shortlist 5 recipients, passing the FINAL decision back to the community in a Facebook Poll, running late November.
